Getting Started with AI Agents

The Agents module is where you create and manage AI agents. Each agent can represent a channel, team, or use case.

This page covers the General tab: name, agent ID, and deleting an agent. To create an agent, see Creating an AI agent. To change how the AI replies, see AI Settings.

Getting here

  1. Sign in to ChatMaven.
  2. Open your workspace.
  3. Go to Agents from the top navigation.
  4. Select an existing agent or create a new one.

What you can do from General

On the General page you can:

  • Set or update the AI Agent Name.
  • View and copy the AI Agent ID.
  • Delete the agent from Danger Zone (permanent).

For model, speaking style, response variety, workspace binding, automation mode, AI Actions, and Custom Rules, use AI Settings in the same sidebar.

After you have an agent

  1. Copy and store the AI Agent ID for integrations and troubleshooting.
  2. Add knowledge on Knowledge Base and set citations on Preferences.
  3. Connect channels on Integrations.
  4. Test with Web Chat → Deploy → Direct Link before you embed.

Teams often keep a production agent and a separate test agent so experiments stay off live traffic.

Important safety note

Delete Agent in Danger Zone permanently removes the agent and associated data. Only admins or trusted owners should use it.

FAQ and troubleshooting

Agents vs the website widget—what is the difference?

An agent is the AI you configure (instructions, knowledge, tools). The chatbot on your site is the visitor-facing widget for that agent. They work together.

Where do I edit what the AI says?

Use AI Settings and Knowledge Base. Channel-specific behavior may also live under Integrations or Inbox routing.

My new agent does not receive messages.

Link the agent to a channel and check routing from Inbox. Unassigned conversations may go to a default queue.
