LINE Integration
Connect your LINE Official Account to ChatMaven to chat with customers over LINE. LINE is a popular messaging app in Asia with over 800 million users. This integration lets you receive and respond to LINE messages directly from ChatMaven.
You need a LINE Official Account to use this integration. If you don't have one yet, follow the steps below to create and configure it, then connect it to ChatMaven.
What you need
- A ChatMaven account
- A LINE account
- A LINE Official Account (create one at LINE Official Account Manager)
Creating the LINE Official Account
Step 1: Sign up for a LINE Official Account
Go to LINE Official Account Manager and sign in with your LINE account.
Step 2: Create your LINE Official Account
Click Create LINE official account and fill in the required information (account type, name, category, description, and profile image).
Configuring the LINE Official Account
After your LINE Official Account is created, configure it for the Messaging API and webhooks.
Step 1: Open Messaging API settings
Sign in to the LINE Official Accounts Platform, then go to Settings → Messaging API in the side menu. Click Enable Messaging API.
Step 2: Link a Developer account
Use your LINE account to link or register a Developer account when prompted.
Step 3: Create or select a Provider
Enter a new Provider name or select an existing Provider for your channel.
Step 4: Add policy links (optional)
Add your business Privacy Policy and Terms of Use URLs if you have them. You can skip this if not.
Step 5: Save and get Channel info
Click OK to save. You will need the Channel ID, Channel Secret, and Channel Access Token to connect LINE to ChatMaven.
Step 6: Enable Webhooks on LINE
Go to Response Settings and enable Webhooks. Leave Chat disabled when using Webhooks so that messages from the LINE Developers Console are delivered to ChatMaven correctly.
Important: If both Chat and Webhooks are turned on, messages sent from the LINE Developers Console may not appear in ChatMaven due to LINE channel limitations.
Connecting LINE to ChatMaven
Before connecting, ensure your LINE Official Account is created and the Messaging API and Webhooks are enabled as above.
You will need:
- LINE Channel ID
- LINE Channel Secret
- LINE Channel Access Token
- Webhook URL (provided by ChatMaven)
Step 1: Open Channels in ChatMaven
In ChatMaven, go to Settings → Channels (or Agents → Integrations, depending on your workspace).
Step 2: Add LINE channel
Click Add Channel → LINE → Connect.
Step 3: Configure the channel
Follow the on-screen steps under Configure Channel. Tick the checkbox and click Next.
Step 4: Enter Channel information
Under Get Channel Information, enter your Channel ID, Channel Secret, and Channel Access Token from the LINE Official Accounts Platform (Messaging API tab). Click Next.
Step 5: Set Webhook URL in LINE
ChatMaven will show a Webhook URL. Copy it, then in the LINE Official Accounts Platform go to Messaging API → Webhook settings. Paste the Webhook URL, then click Update or Verify.
Step 6: Save in ChatMaven
Click Save Changes in ChatMaven to finish the setup.
Once connected, messages sent to your LINE Official Account will appear in your ChatMaven workspace. Scan your LINE channel’s QR code (from LINE or ChatMaven) and send a test message to confirm everything works.
Channel configuration in ChatMaven
You can adjust your LINE channel settings in ChatMaven:
- Channel name — Name used inside ChatMaven to identify the channel. You can change it.
- Chat link — A short URL that opens a chat with your LINE account. Share this link or its QR code so customers can start or continue a conversation.
- Channel Secret — Used for authentication; you can view or update it here if you rotate credentials on LINE’s side.
Go to Settings → Channels → find your LINE channel → Manage (or Configure) to change these. Click Save Changes after editing.
Ensure Channel ID, Channel Secret, and Webhook URL are correct; wrong details can prevent messages from being received.
FAQ and troubleshooting
How do I get a chat link for my LINE account?
In ChatMaven, go to Settings → Channels → Manage → select your LINE channel → Configure. Copy the Chat Link shown. You need the LINE app on your phone or desktop to use the link.
"You have reached your monthly limit" on LINE
LINE applies messaging and broadcast limits per month based on your LINE Official Account plan. If you’re on the free (Communication) plan, consider upgrading. If you’re already on a paid plan, you can increase messaging limits in the LINE Official Account Manager.
Error: "Response mode has been changed"
Turn off Auto-reply messages in LINE so ChatMaven can handle replies:
- Go to LINE Developers, log in, and select your channel.
- Open the Messaging API tab, find Auto-reply messages.
- Click Edit and set it to Disabled, then save.
Echo messages from LINE don’t appear in ChatMaven
LINE does not send echo messages (messages you send from the LINE app or console) to the webhook. This is a LINE limitation, not a ChatMaven issue.
I only see a generic contact number, not the contact’s name
LINE may not send profile information (e.g. display name) to your platform. Common reasons include:
- The user has not agreed to share profile information.
- The user has not added your LINE Official Account as a friend.
- The user blocked or removed your account, or left a group where your account was added.
For details, see LINE’s documentation on user consent.
